“I’m Afraid The Guy’s Gonna Find Me And Sue Me” – Riley Green Recalls Snapping A Dude’s Arm In Half At The Flora-Bama

Riley Green country music

OUCH. Back around 2015, Riley Green took on some random guy in an arm wrestling match down at the Flora-Bama (a place Riley used to play often while getting started in his country music career), and let's just say... it didn't end well for the mystery man. Riley took the guy down in a few seconds flat, and in a video he's since shared on Instagram of the exact moment, you can see (and hear) the snapping of the arm. Yeah... not that I've ever found myself in a late night arm wrestling match like this, but I think Riley Green is the last person I'd want to go up against if I were to ever find myself in that situation. And we actually caught up with Riley at his inaugural Duckman Jam festival at the Flora-Bama this past weekend, AKA the scene of the (alleged) crime, where we obviously had to ask him about it and his thoughts on the incident almost 10 years later. Riley says staff at the Flora-Bama still bring it up to him, but he was hoping everybody would forget about it eventually because he's afraid "the guy's gonna find me and sue me," though there's got to be some sort of statute of limitations on breaking random dude's arms at the Flora-Bama, right? If he hasn't heard anything by now, my guess is that he's probably safe... and truthfully, by the way he talked about it and the look on his face as he remembered that fateful day, I think he still enjoys that story quite a bit himself: "I think the most popular Flora-Bama story I have is when I broke a dude's arm in there years ago, arm wrestling. There's still people who work here that bring it up. I'm hoping everybody will forget about it 'cuz I'm afraid the guy's gonna find me and sue me, but I think enough time has passed that we're probably okay." https://twitter.com/spaseycasey/status/1780968828236710130 Honestly, I'd love to hear from the guy, just to get his side of the story and what it felt like to have his arm broken like that by Riley Green... And if you're as squeamish as I am, this is fun to watch, but extremely difficult to listen to (fair warning): https://www.instagram.com/p/-r9f17BtYq/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=2b1f2b76-1308-423a-a75a-6bee456d75ef Riley also talked about how he wanted to cry himself when he wrote "Jesus Saves," which is an absolutely gorgeous, downright sad country song included on his brand new Way Out Here EP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zrm8t6n0-vA And for a little bit of fun after you’re done crying to “Jesus Saves,” “Good Morning From Mexico” is a total jam and I’m gonna have it blasting all summer long: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDO29_Jajmk&embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.whiskeyriff.com%2F&source_ve_path=MjM4NTE&feature=emb_title

Turkey Hunters Watch Two Florida Panthers Brawl Right In Front Of The Blind

Florida panthers fighting

To see a mountain lion in the wild is a pretty rare thing. They're generally one of the more elusive and stealthy predators in all of North America. So, while seeing two going at it is pretty extraordinary, to have the rarest subspecies doing that makes it all the more uncommon. Florida panthers are regarded as a subspecies of mountain lions (or cougars as they're sometimes called), and native to Florida. They're technically not a true sub-species since the only real difference is that Florida panthers generally have a kinked tail and a unique fur patch on the back, which seems to have evolved as a result of inbreeding due to the low numbers. These big cats are considered a rare and endangered species, with only a few hundred individuals left in the wild. Florida panther males will often fight for territory and dominance. These territorial battles serve to establish dominance and protect their mating rights. Florida panthers are solitary animals and will defend their territories from other males to ensure access to food and mates. A father and son were out for a turkey hunt when the craziest thing happened. As they sat calling out some gobblers, a ruckus started and crows started to lose their minds. Before they knew what was happen a pair of panthers were right in front of them going at it hard. The pair of hunters got an up close and personal view at this wild fight, and the father summed it all up in the video. “As the gang of crows got closer I peeked out of the right side of the blind and I caught movement, and sure enough it was a young male Florida panther. As I was pulling the phone out to get some footage of him, out came quite possibly the same cat I saw with my daughter one year and two days before and hit him like a freight train! As the battle went on, A pack of rather large wild boars came running in to the screaming of these to Apex predators. One of the Boars, was really hell-bent on settling some old scores I guess, and came in hot right up to about 6 feet and probably was the reason the younger cat made it out of there alive. This is why I love being a Man of the Sea and the Wilderness, you just can’t quite ever imagine what’s amazing thing is going to happen...” This is what hunting is all about... Making memories and moments those two hunters will talk about forever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o24I6zxeh9U

Hunter Snags Wild Turkey With His Bare Hands

Using decoys can be a bit of an art. Making sure you set them up realistically to fool the incredibly intelligent animals that we chase after. It’s even more impressive using these things to further fool an animal and get within very close distances. This video here is the ultimate use of a decoy, I don't know many people who could pull this off and get within even a few feet of a wild turkey like this. The video starts with it looking at a group of jakes walking in checking them out. After a couple gobbles, you see the decoy and realize there is a hunter behind it. Over the span of a minute the hunter does his best turkey impression hiding behind the decoy and crawling towards the flock of birds. Apparently, the show was very believable he gets within a couple feet of the birds, but... they still seem a little weary. You see his hand start to come around the decoy. Just as the jake turns to run the man reaches out and snags its leg and pulls it in to get control. He grabs it by the legs and neck and holds it up like a championship trophy. One might question why this would ever happen, and the two involved summed up the story: “Due to the virus, Kyle and myself were working remotely. We were able to leave early, so we decided to turkey hunt after the passing rain. When we finally heard the roar of the gobbles, we knew we were going to double. The jakes had full gobbles. When they came around the corner, we realized it was a group of jakes. Kyle had always mentioned catching one behind my decoy. At that time, I grabbed my phone, and he grabbed the camera. The rest is history.” I guess when you have been planning something and the opportunity presents itself, you have to pounce. And that’s exactly what this guy did. Don’t try this one at home, it will probably not go this great every time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Qp-TW_1oMc

Lost Dog Street Band Drops “Hubbardville Store,” The Final Single Before Their Next Album ‘Survived’

Lost Dog Street Band

We're less than two weeks out from the April 26 release date of Lost Dog Street Band's highly anticipated record Survived, and the full project can't get here soon enough. In addition to the three other records that frontman Benjamin Tod has released solo throughout his career, Survived marks Lost Dog's eighth album and latest addition to a timeless catalog of well-written, emotion-evoking, and thought-provoking country music. The forthcoming project's first single "Brighter Shade" was released back in February, following a relatively brief a hiatus, or period of uncertainty for the band's future, at least. And ever since, with the release of each single and music video, each post to social media, the anticipation for Survived has grown steadily amongst fans of authentic country music. Coming as the fourth and final single leading up to the project, "Hubbardville Store" was released back earlier this week, and as has been the case with each single, we're in for a treat of this is any indication of what the rest of the album will be like. A rare cover in Tod's catalog, "Hubbardville Store" is actually a long standing folk song written by Larry Murray and recorded by Jim Ringer in the 1970s. While the track may not have been written by Tod, as most of the music he releases is, it serves as an interesting homage to one of his lesser known musical influences, and he delivers the tune with such conviction that one can't help but recognize how much the words mean to him. In an Instagram post made by Lost Dog Street Band, Tod provided valuable insight into his connection with their latest single "Hubbardville Store," and the larger story behind the song. "'Hubbardville Store' is a tale as old as time about injustice, and a young man's revenge. In America from early in the 20th century, local general stores and company stores had ungodly amounts of power and were often corrupt and exploitive. These stores often gave out lines of credit and sold products 10x over retail. This ensured the family would never be able to pay the debt. Hubbardville ain't a real town, but I'm sure this story took place in every state in the Southeast at some point. This story is particularly personal for me because my one side of my family lived in Brilliant, AL and was beholden to the coal mine company store and the other side ran a general store in Muhlenburg County, KY. The rich history of the stores and their power shaped the lineage of my family and influenced the people who raised me.  This tune was originally written by Larry Murray but the version I fell in love with is from Jim Ringer. Jim Ringer is an obscure singer from the 70's folk era. He has been a huge inspiration on my life and is easily in my top 20 influences. Go give him a listen. -Benjamin Tod" https://www.instagram.com/p/C51divevWFA/ So, with that information in mind, go ahead and give "Hubbardville Store," the final single off of Lost Dog Street Band's forthcoming record Survived, a listen for yourself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA6CegFdgjI And while we're at it, as you prepare for the album's release, check out the tracklist and the other singles that have already been released below. “Brighter Shade” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CNq8Rs2C70 “If You Leave Me Now” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0UC_YCg3VI “Survived” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY2WKjBm88E Alongside Tod, Lost Dog Street Band features original members Ashley Mae, Tod’s wife, on fiddle, and Jeff Loops playing upright bass, as well as new additions Tebbs Karney on Pedal Steel and drummer Ben Duvall to round out the band’s new full band sound. Together they’ll be bringing their new songs to a venue near you this spring in promotion of the new album, and you’re not going to want to miss it. Make sure to mark your calendars for the release of Survived on April 26, and grab those tickets too before they sell out.

Lainey Wilson Confirms “Country’s Cool Again” Is NOT The Title Track Of Next Album

Lainey Wilson country music

Hit us with a curveball. Lainey Wilson is cooking up something good in the studio, but while fans are captivated by her "Country's Cool Again" era, it is not the title single for her next album. While it seemed as though this was going to be the name for her next album, with her massive tour sharing the single's title, Wilson spoke with Audacy at Country Thunder and confirmed that this is not the case. "So basically, I am working on some stuff right now, and I can't wait to tell y'all about it. It is...I mean I'm partial because all the songs I write I mean they are my babies. But at the end of the day, I do feel like...uh, this next batch of stuff...If 'Bell Bottom Country' did it, I can't wait to see what this does." Wilson noted that she is currently figuring out what collaborations might appear on the album, as it sounds like she is in the final stages of finishing up the next project. Then she was pointedly asked if "Country's Cool Again" was the title track. "No, it's not. I can tell you that...You thought it was... I pulled you wrong." While I am not going to lie, she had been thinking "Country's Cool Again" was about to be a whole era, I am also excited to hear that we will get another collection of songs filled with the signature spice of the Louisiana native. https://www.instagram.com/p/C5pd9cjL0El/ Time will tell when we know the title track of this album, but in the meantime, fire up "Country's Cool Again." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-GBdsu8j00

Evan Honer Tips His Hat To Shenandoah With “Two Dozen Roses” Cover

Evan Honer country music

An all-time classic. Is it just me, or do you love seeing younger artists cover classic country music tracks? Evan Honer is a name you need to know, who is rapidly growing his fanbase. While he might be considered a new kid on the block, he knows the roots of his genre and is tipping his hat to Shenandoah by covering "Two Dozen Roses." Honer, accompanied by a guitar and a fiddle player, sat down to deliver a stellar acoustic version of the hit song from 1989. If you like Honer's cover of "Jersey Giant," you'll love this cover as well. Something about the way Honer delivers his vocals is comforting and makes you feel as though you are listening to a close friend sing. His fiddle player breaks down the bridge of the song flawlessly, capturing that '90s flair that makes the song such a classic. Evan Honer knocked this one out of the park. Hopefully, it will become a staple in his setlists... talk about a way to get the crowd singing along with you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvAFuO-Axe8
